They caused controversy during their time in the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this month.
But Heidi Montag, 26, and 29-year-old Spencer Pratt sparked further debate after a Channel 5 documentary aired about the pair on Monday night.
The married couple posed with their gun collection while giving a tour of their American home claiming they need the weapons for protection.
During the show, called Speidi: Scandal, Secrets And Surgery, Spencer boasted he was proud of American laws which enable people to keep guns in their homes.
In the programme the married couple were shown brandishing their arsenal of weapons including a Benelli semi-automatic shotgun and rapid engagement precision rifle.
After claiming British gun laws are too strict, Spencer opened the room where he stored their guns to show cameras around.
He said: ‘I want to show something that you cannot possess in your amazing country.
‘I will let you have a glimpse of the amazing laws in America.’
Heidi added: ‘This is my favourite spot.’
Former The Hills star Heidi admitted she takes comfort knowing they have guns in her and Spencer’s Santa Barbara house as she feels unsafe knowing fans could break into the property.
She said: ‘I think it’s one of the greatest rights to be an American.
‘I didn’t feel safe especially with crazed fans and stalkers out there but if somebody broke into our home, this is the only thing that could actually save my life.’
But Spencer insists the guns will not be used for the wrong purpose saying they are safely stored and locked away preventing easy access.
